My name is Joanna and you are viewing my personal digital illustration and writing challenge, the Seven Line Story.
I am doing this for two reasons. First, I want to learn how to use digital art media like Photoshop and Illustrator. Second, having a simple recurring writing challenge will give me an arsenal of concept ideas that I can develop further in the future.
It works like this:
My husband, Ryan, gives me two words (character, setting, mood, etc.) which I have to feature in an illustration and a story.
My stories are mostly silly (because that’s what I like) and mostly about critters (because that’s what Ryan likes to give me). They are not written with children in mind, but that doesn’t mean you can’t share with them — be sure you read the stories first though, just in case you happen upon a smoking antelope or bosomy bear.
I will be posting as often as I can. My goal is to post at least one illustration a week.
My plan is to focus on Photoshop for the first 180 days and then to switch to Illustrator.
Please feel free to offer suggestions! The whole point of my doing this is to learn and that includes not only the software but also design and formal art elements.
